Marla Johnson Norris

After working with digital artists and programmers to complete a video game for Electronic Arts in 1994, a friend told Marla Johnson Norris, ìYou all should start an Internet company.î This began Marlaís whirlwind study of Internet technology and led to the formation of Aristotle Inc. in Little Rock in 1995.

Under Marlaís leadership as CEO, Aristotle has grown into a nationally recognized, award-winning Internet and interactive media firm specializing in Web design and programming, Internet research and marketing and enterprise web site hosting. Aristotleís work has been referred to repeatedly in newspapers, magazines, online and on television for innovation and excellence, garnering nationwide awards in many industries including tourism, politics, hospital/medical and entertainment. In addition, Aristotle is known for its interactive work on CD and DVD with an extensive portfolio that includes the interactive graphics on the ìO Brother, Where Art Thou?î music CD for Mercury Records and an interactive kiosk in a very popular theme park in Anaheim, California. Aristotleís ISP provides Internet access nationwide for 50 cents an hour and represents its customers, companies and ISPs nationally in the fight against spam.

Marla focuses on the development of effective online promotion and customer service tools. Aristotleís work with Arkansas Parks & Tourism, Elvis Presley Enterprises, Macaroni Grill, Chiliís, and several e-commerce clients and tourism destinations including Gulf Shores, Alabama and Branson, Missouri has resulted in several areas of expertise. Well-known for custom online tracking reports and online research including surveys, user interface studies, focus groups and conversion studies, Marla has traveled the country to gain insight into how people use the Internet and translated that knowledge into web sites that work. Marla also speaks nationwide, conducting seminars and strategic planning sessions.

Little Rock has been Marlaís home since 1981 and she is dedicated to her Arkansas community. She currently serves in leadership positions with Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Arkansas Womenís Forum, the Foundation Fund Board of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the National Council for Community Justice (NCCJ) Arkansas, and Greater Little Rockís Fifty for the Future.

Born in Pueblo, Colorado, Marla later moved to Memphis where she graduated from the University of Memphis summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in international relations, urban studies and political science with an emphasis on economic development in developing nations. After moving to Arkansas, Marlaís jobs were in the areas of government, video production and education. She received a Masterís Degree in Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with an emphasis in secondary history and the social sciences. Marla is a fan of the visual and performing arts, reading, writing, history, movies and hiking. She is married to James Norris of Little Rock.
